The Oracle’s Athletes of the Week

Men: Justice Spriggs, Men’s Football. Completing his record-breaking season with one last gutsy performance, sophomore quarterback Justice Spriggs threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns in Hamline’s 14-17 season finale loss to Bethel. The top quarterback in the MIAC this season, Spriggs went 233 of 364 (64 percent) for 2711 yards, 25 touchdowns and set seven school records.

Women: Annie Juergens, Women’s Hockey. Backstopping the Pipers to a 4-3 overtime win against UW-Eau Claire in her first collegiate game, Juergens was the starting goalie for both games against St. Olaf last weekend. Facing 65 shots in the two games, Juergens turned away all but two to help Hamline to 3-2 and 2-0 wins over the Oles in the home-and-home series. The 2-0 win at Oscar Johnson Arena last Saturday was Juergens’ first collegiate shutout.
