Ted Cruz: Cruising Past Trump

Cruz’s calm will defeat Trump’s crazy.

Senator Ted Cruz has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. On many occasions, fellow Republican Nominee Donald Trump has tried to tear down Cruz with slurs and insults. When those did not work, he attempted to join forces with his worthy competitor, but to no avail. Donald Trump has proven time and time again that he will be a chameleon for the Republican nomination regardless of what the GOP actually stands for. It is important that Americans, in the most impactful presidential election, stand by our values, morals and rights which Ted Cruz intends to protect once he is elected.

It is important to realize the difference between a popularity contest and the presidential elections. While it is necessary to note that the government does require some serious changes, those serious changes must happen in a way that is both inclusive of the American people’s votes, and still abiding by the U.S. Constitution. Senator Ted Cruz was able to, with his audiographic memory, memorize the U.S. Constitution as a teenager and recite it back. Why might this be important? When it comes to checks and balances in Congress, the Constitution outlines what kind of power each branch can exercise.

Do you think Trump would care about check and balances and going through the right process to do something that he wants? Definitely not. In an attempt to affect the GOP debate, he threw a temper tantrum and skipped the GOP Debate because Megyn Kelly was going to be one of three moderators. Are the moderators going to be biased? Of course. Does this make it more difficult for all of the GOP candidates at the debate? Definitely. With his decision to withdraw from the debate not more than a week before the Iowa caucuses, he demonstrated to the American voters that if America does not abide by his own desires, then he will do as he pleases regardless of a set system, with that system being our government.

Senator Cruz, on the other hand, showed that he was there for the American people, to further inform the people of his policies and was not afraid to defend his policies against Marco Rubio in the process. His methods proved to be successful as Senator Cruz subsequently won the Iowa caucuses over Trump. Senator Cruz does not make decisions based on his own personal beliefs and mood swings but rather on the foundation that the forefathers of our country have laid for us and the morals and values of the American people. Americans know that when he makes decisions as president, it will not be a surprising and unwarranted abuse of power.

Donald Trump may be amusing to watch on television and entertaining to follow on Twitter, but I would rather not risk turning the primaries and elections into American Idol in order to gain more American votes. Senator Cruz, however, is the first top-tier movement conservative candidate since Ronald Reagan: First, his ability to unite all three elements of the old Reagan coalition; second, Senator Cruz’s memorization of the Constitution and understanding of the patriots of America: the voters who have looked with alarm at Obama’s fundamental transformation of America and an existential threat to the future of constitutional government; and finally, and perhaps most importantly, Senator Cruz’s desire to remedy the continuous battling and split between the political parties whereas Trump has continued to further polarize his own political party for his own gains.

The smoke screen of celebrity-bound political plays that Trump has been making may seem to have worked on the masses right now, but eventually, Americans will get tired of “The Trump Show” and realize that rather than making a mockery of the United States of America and possibly destroying basic and fundamental American values, Senator Cruz has America’s best interest in mind rather than his own. Senator Cruz cruising past Donald Trump? I think so!
